The production and types of PBT The production process of PBT fiber is similar to PET, there are two routes of producing PBT, transesterification method and direct esterification, the latter is widely used. Main products in Japan are Finecell of Teiiin, Sumola of Toray, Wonderon of Unitika. In America, the main PBT product is Celanex of Celanese company. In Japan, PBT is fine denier fiber, mainly used in production of swimwear, underwear and panty-hose. PBT yarn in America is a little thicker, mainly used in stretch denims and sports wear. In Europe, the major company is Hoechst in Germany, its PBT stape fiber was mainly used in carpet production.
